Bishop Elbert Marbury's Obituary
Home Going Celebration for Bishop Elbert Marbury Sr., 75, Founder and Emeritus Overseer of the Church of Jesus Christ House of Prayer, Inc. will be Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, Leesville, LA. Bishop Elbert Marbury Sr., was called to his eternal rest on October 30, 2014, at Riverside Hospital in Alexandria, LA. He was born December 6, 1938, to the union of Lonnie and Minnie Marbury in Leeds, Alabama.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ House of Prayer.
Bishop Elbert Marbury Sr., was a visionary, a world changer, dynamic speaker, teacher, provocative thinker, and anointed man of God with nearly thirty years of ministry. He was committed to bringing the Good news of Jesus Christ to people all over the world, literally changing the world one person at a time. He extended his hands to help the needy, with a heart of compassion, and a message of empowerment to the oppressed and depressed.
He was leader within the local, national, and international community; providing teaching, guidance and understanding of the bible. He received the vision for the Church of Jesus Christ House of Prayer in his home, which consist of churches across the globe, to include seven in Louisiana, four in Texas, one in Virginia, New York, Chicago, Alaska, Maryland, Tennessee, Afghanistan, Korea, Germany, and an outreach ministry in Africa. Bishop Marbury’s worldwide impact can be felt throughout the nation from thousands of souls he has come in contact with, and encouraged to pursue a personal relationship with God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Elbert Marbury and Benjamin Marbury.
He leaves to cherish his memoires, his beloved wife of 43 years, Annie Marbury, five children; Marcell (Jennifer) Watson Marbury, Makeba (Tommy) Marbury Morris, Elbert (Yolanda) Marbury Jr., Elbert Marbury IV, and Mahogany Marbury; eighteen grandchildren,; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Owen (Gloria) Marbury, James (Everlyn) Marbury, Hosea (Mary Ann) Marbury; three sisters, Murriel Moore, Helen McCain and Bessie (George) McTyre, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Labby Memorial Funeral Home, Leesville, LA.
