Billy Ray Creel's Obituary
Funeral services for Billy Ray Creel, 88, of DeRidder, LA, were held at 4P.M., Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the First United MethodistChurch in DeRidder with Rev, Jon Tellefero officiating. Burial followed in Beauregard Cemetery. Billy passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009, at his residence. Born in Pensacola, FL, he was the son of Leahman and Ida Belle Newton Creel. In 1937 he was crowned the "Duncan Yo-Yo" Champion. He was a graduate of Texas A & M and later served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII and was also a flight instructor during that time. He has lived in DeRidder for a number of years where he retired from West Brothers as a Manager/Buyer in Retail Sales. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a Past Master, and a shriner with the York and Scottish Rites. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, an avid fisherman, golfer and was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelyn LaNell Davis Creel, daughter, Tarali Anne Creel Cenneman, son, Richard Davis Creel, and brothers James Creel, Dr. F. Lamer Creel and Cecil Creel.
Billy is survived by two sons, Douglas Wade Creel and wife Alicia of Tulsa, OK, and William Ray Creel and wife Thelma, of DeRidder, LA; daughter-in-law, Mickey Creel of Winston Salem, N.C.; special friend, Shelia Licht of Tulsa, OK; Brothers, L. Eugene Creel and Clifton Creel, both of Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
