Our Dad…that word stood for a lot to his children…protector, provider, one to make you laugh, and one to laugh and tell a good story. He had many stories about his life as a welder on the Pipeline. He retired from the Pipeline and became a Master carpenter and was a perfectionist at building cabinets and houses. He had taught adult Sunday School since 1958, was a devout Christian, and if you met him, he would get around to asking you if you knew the Lord as your Savior. Family prayer around the bed at night was a fond memory and prayer at the table, no matter where we were, was a must.
Our family wants to express much gratitude to Companion Care for providing the most wonderful compassion when they lived in their tiny house. They were spoiled with much love from all who stayed with them. Especially Sandy, who went above and beyond. Even after Dad went to the Woodlands, she cared for his clothes at her home, and she, Lux, and the boys would play checkers with him. Lux would draw sweet pictures and even claim him as her papaw.
And to the staff at the Woodlands, we have nothing to say but good! Dad was well taken care of and soon became a favorite of the nurses and workers in his hall. He loved to joke with them, and they loved to joke right back - especially "his Boss."
A special heartfelt thanks to the faithful men who came to pick Dad up every Sunday and drive him to church. Murphy, who was as much of a joker as Dad. And Webster, who was a lifelong friend.
Thanks to all of our friends and family for the prayers sent Heavenward for Dad, Mom, and our family. They felt like a warm blanket wrapped around our shoulders over this last year. We love you all!!
