Bettye Chadwick McRae's Obituary
Funeral services for Bettye Chadwick McRae, 83 will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2 pm in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Chaplain Monty Bower & Rev. Mike Jackson officiating. Mrs. McRae went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8 in her residence in Anacoco. Visitation will be Saturday, January 9, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Self Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Betty Kate Chadwick was born to William and Mattie Stevens Chadwick on June 26, 1932 in Hazlehurst, MS. She graduated from Belhaven College with a B. A. in history and social studies. She received her M. ED. from Mississippi College.
In 1961 she married Thomas McRae from Anacoco. After teaching for forty-four years, she retired from Anacoco High School where she had taught 27 ½ years.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McRae; her parents; father-in-law, Tamp McRae; and mother-in-law, Clarice McRae.
She is survived by her daughter, Danna Merchant; son-in-law, Patrick Merchant; granddaughter, Brittany Merchant all of Anacoco; and sister-in-law Janice Conerly of Nederland, TX.
Pallbearers will be James Martin, Gary Dowden, Charles Dowden, Jerome Maricle, Edward Kalk, and Rick Johnson.
