Bettye Louise Barentine Brown's Obituary
A Funeral Service for Bettye Louise Barentine Brown, 81, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Ministers officiating will be Rev. Heather Leyland & Rev. Johnny Johnson. Burial will be at Barentine Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Brown passed from this life on Thursday, May 22, 2014, in DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will also be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Bettye was born on Sunday, February 5, 1933, to Louis & Sarah Ware Barentine in Longville, LA. Being born of a pioneer family, she lived most of her life in Longville before retiring to DeRidder. Bettye was a secretary for the First United Methodist Church and the County Agent Office in DeRidder. She began playing piano at a very young age and taught piano lessons for many years where she loved playing for many churches and civic organizations. Bettye was also a member of the Eastern Star, Magnolia Chapter #232.
She is survived by her loving husband, who she was married to for 60 years, Gordon Luther Brown of DeRidder, LA; 2 daughters, Gayle Pitman & husband Glynn of Collinsville, MS and Beth Franklin & husband Gary of Lampasas, TX;
6 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Bettye is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Gordon Brian Brown. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
