Betty Jean Skaggs' Obituary
Betty Jean Skaggs, 81, of Longville, LA, passed from this life in her home on Saturday, June 20, 2020, in Longville, Louisiana. Betty, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Martha Edith Mullins was born on September 4, 1938, in Natchez, Mississippi.
Visitation will begin Monday, June 22, 2020, 9:00 AM until Funeral Service begins at 11:00 AM, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. Jimmy Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Barentine Cemetery, Longville, LA.
Betty was a faithful member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Longville, Louisiana. Betty served customers with a big smile and “May I help you” during her 26 years with Walmart. Her loved ones and friends will miss her greatly.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Ann Cathey and husband Jimmy of Hammond, LA, Edith Mae Fontenot of Longville, LA, Michelle Ann Reid of Longville, LA; grandchildren, Chad Cathey and wife Kayla, Daniel Compala and wife Heather of Longville, LA, Jennifer Eaves and husband Bobby, Gregory Reid, Robert Reid and wife Trina, Shawna Reid, Chantel Gaines and husband Ethan, Thomas Reid II and wife Stephanie and Christy Lapoint. Numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Roy Skaggs; parents, Thomas Jefferson Mullins and Martha Edith Mullins; sons, Thomas Earl Reid and Willard Reid, Jr., grandson, Casey Lee Compala, and great grandson, Clay Eaves.
Serving, as pallbearers Robert Blackwell, Mike Porterfield, Tim Nelson, Joe Gonzales, James Sturgeon, and Justin Paradees.
