Bernice Riley Miller's Obituary
Bernice Miller was born on July 23, 1948. She passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a life filled with kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for those around her.
Bernice was a devoted cook for the Vernon Parish School system. She spent many years nourishing not only the students’ bodies but also their hearts with her warm smile and caring nature. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, whether it was through a comforting meal or a few kind words that could brighten even the darkest days. She was a member of Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C.
Bernice was well known for the generous spirit, always putting others before herself. She never let life’s challenges, including her health issues later on in life steal her joy. No matter what she faced she met each day with a smile, proving that true strength comes from within.
Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, her wisdom, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her legacy of kindness and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Miller and son, Jonathan Miller.
She is survived by her sons, Leon Miller (Joy) of Leesville, LA and Andre Miller (Kim) of Leesville; daughter, Davina Miller of Houston, TX; siblings, Mary Vinson, Phyllis Riley, Carlton Tipps, James Allen Riley, Angela Riley, Geraldine Riley, Mary Jean Riley, Horace Lee Peterson and David Riley; grandchildren, LeAndre Miller, Jazalea Miller, Jaliyah Miller, LeKyndale Watson, Gavin Perkins and Savannah Perkins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Leesville with Elder Jerry Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14th from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
