Barbara Dill Woolman's Obituary
Funeral service for Barbara Dill Woolman, 80, of Ragley, LA will be held at
2:00 PM Monday, August 25, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder with Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Dry Creek, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Barbara passed from this life on Thursday, August 21, 2014, in her home in Ragley, LA with her family by her side.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014, 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home in DeRidder.
Barbara was born on Sunday, November 26, 1933, to John Madison Dill and Eula Simmons Dill in Mansfield, LA. The family moved to Lake Charles, LA shortly thereafter. She attended La Grange High School where she was a member of the Gatorette’s and Band. After graduation she attended McNeese State College until her marriage to George Clark Woolman on May 24, 1953. She worked for Morris Animal Clinic and later as bookkeeper for Office Machine and Supply. Later she started her own business which she named “Barbara’s Antiques and Fine Jewelry” located at 2140 Kirkman St. which she operated for over 20 years. She and her husband George moved to Ragley, LA in 1984. While living in Lake Charles they were members of Sale Street Baptist Church and after moving to Ragley they joined First Baptist Church of Longville and later Magnolia Baptist Church where they are presently members.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Woolman; one daughter, Letitia Gwendolyn Canty of Newton, TX; 2 grandsons, Steven Dale Veron and wife Misty of Lumberton, TX and George Warren Riggs and wife Crystal of Ragley, LA; 2 great grandson and 2 great granddaughters.
Barbara was a member of Calcasieu Chapter 164 Order of the Eastern Star for 62 years. She was also a member of the DAR and she served LA Grand Chapter OES as Grand Esther in 2005-2006 along with her husband George who was Worthy Grand Patron those years.
