Barbara Ann White's Obituary
Barbara White, 80, entered peacefully into rest in her savior’s arms on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at her home in Pitkin, Louisiana. Barbara was born on September 3, 1944, in Pensacola, Florida.
Visitation will begin Saturday, November 23, from 5PM until 10PM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Cravens, LA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 24 at 2PM with a visitation to begin at 10AM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Arlen Smith and Rev. Jeff James officiating. Interment will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, La.
Born on September 3, 1944, to her beloved mother Doris Lollar, she lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering faith. For over 28 years she devoted herself to safely transporting students as a school bus driver, always greeting every child with a warm smile and a kind word. She was deeply rooted in her faith and was a devoted member of her church, where she actively led as youth leader for many years. She was also heavily involved in missions, tirelessly supporting outreach efforts and caring for her church family. Barbara had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. Her warmth and generosity were felt by everyone who crossed her path. An avid cook and baker, she was well known for her “Barbara White cakes” and delighted in preparing meals for friends, family, and anyone in need. True to her character, she often said, “if you left my table hungry, it was your fault.” Her unwavering love, selflessness, and dedication to her family, faith and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles “Wilmer” White of 64 years of Pitkin, LA; son, Danny White of Pitkin, LA, daughter, Dawn Carlock of Pitkin, LA; daughter, Dara Standish of Panama City Beach, FL; brothers, Jimmy James of Orange, TX and Johnny James of Orange, TX; sisters, Cherry Maricle of Pitkin, LA, Patricia Lacoture of Baton Rouge, LA; 4 grandchildren, Jay James, Brittany Howell, Taylor McCellan, and Bryce Angulo, and 10 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loved ones; parents, Ray and Doris James and brother, Stan Gilliam.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Macy Willis, Jay James, Huel Willis, Marty White, Jeffery McClellan, and Hunter Lockhart.
Those honored to server as honorary pallbearers are Roger Dale White, Mike White, Donnie White, Gary White, and Brandon White.
