Barbara Ann Hood's Obituary
Funeral services for Barbara Ann Hood, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 in the First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville with Revs. Mark Christian, Louis Magee, and Larry Laurent officiating. Burial will follow in the Castor Cemetery in Leesville.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville, and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
Barbara Ann Hood, 72, was born on August 16th, 1949 in Leesville, Louisiana to her parents, Cecil and Johnnie Hood. She was the 3rd of 5 siblings with 2 older brothers, Milton and Robert Hood, and two younger brothers, Darrell and Michael Hood. She graduated Leesville High School in 1967. She enlisted into the United States Army on November 9th, 1976 with the 25th Infantry Division as a Personnel Actions Specialist. She then went on to graduate from the Art of Beauty College on May 13th, 1983 with a master’s license to teach at the local beauty college in Leesville, La as head instructor up until the 1990’s when she decided to go back to school to pursue better opportunities. In the fall of 1999, Barbara graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science and then in the spring of 2002, she graduated with a Masters of Education. She finished her professional career working as a vocational rehabilitation counselor.
Barbara was a caring and kind woman at heart. She endured and overcame life’s toughest challenges with optimism while experiencing many failures and successes throughout her life. She raised her children to have discipline, humility, gratefulness, and generosity. Her friends would define her as devoted and very loyal. She attended the Pentecostals of Alexandria in the early 1970’s and received faith and was baptized into Jesus Christ during that time. She will be remembered as a woman who would give you the shirt off her back. Anyone could stop by her house to get a cooked meal with a visit. She enjoyed life while spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading books, fishing, and watching her favorite sports teams.
Barbara was blessed with many children and grandchildren. Surviving to cherish her memory are her first two sons, Kenneth and his wife Shanna Bates and David Bates; Daughter, Christina Stanley and her husband David; Her twins Cody Harrington and his wife Melissa, and Kelly Thomas and her husband Keith Thomas; Her grandchildren Andrew, Janessa, Mia, Nickolas, Brian, Sean, Skyla, Kamille, Allena, Madalynn, and Lillian. And a host of Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her brother Robert, and her late husband Raymond Harrington.
