Avis L. Brown Schales' Obituary
Funeral services for Avis L. Brown Schales, 85, of Bethany, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 with Bro. Joey Corbello in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00 P.M- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Avis was born on November 25, 1937 in Rosepine, LA to her parents, William Calvin and Ancevillia White Brown. She passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Shreveport, LA.
Avis graduated from High School in Sugartown, Louisiana in 1957. She loved birds, painting bird houses or anything else she could get her hands on. Mrs. Schales retired from Schumpert Medical Center in 1989. If you knew her, you knew she was one of the strongest and most knowledgeable of women.
She is preceded in death by her parents: William & Ancevillia Brown; husband: Stanley E. Schales; daughter: Karon Schales Stephens.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Debra Schales Hamiter & husband Gerald of Taylor, AR, Kathy Schales Robbins of Minden, LA, Penny Schales Litton & husband Scott of Shreveport, LA, Audrey Schales Bell of DeBerry, TX; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren due this year.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jonny Brown, Mike Brown, Billy Moses, Wayne Moses, Joey Corbello, Tristan Brown; honorary pallbearers are, Thomas Stephens, Timmy Stephens, Ryan Litton, Adam Ebarb.
