Asa Sherman Butler's Obituary
Funeral services for Asa Sherman Butler, 84, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, August 21, 2009, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Mark Norwood, Rev. Roy Lee Johnson and Dr. Arthur Rocket officiating. Burial will follow in Barentine Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Mr. Butler passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009, in his residence near DeRidder. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M., Thursday, August 20, 2009, and from 9 A.M. until service time, Friday, August 21, 2009, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Mr. Butler was born in DeRidder, Louisiana, where he continued to live most of his life. He was a retired welder with Trunkline Gas Company with twenty-nine years of service. He was a member of the Merchant Marine during WWII and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church near Longville, LA.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Joan Butler of DeRidder; two sons, Lonnie Bert Butler and wife Catherine, and Sherman W. Butler and wife Margaret C., both of DeRidder; sisters, Rose Mary Granberry of DeRidder, Leodra “Quay” Regner of San Antonio, TX, and Mickey Bailey of DeRidder; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren
