Asa Jack "AJ" Weathers' Obituary
Funeral services for Asa Jack “AJ” Weathers, 71, of New Llano, will be held Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Bible Church in Leesville. Bro Larry Davis, Bro Sandy Guynn and Bro Irby Perkins, Jr. will be officiating. The burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery in Pickering, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th from 12 noon thru Wednesday, Jan 20th at 10:00 pm in the funeral home. Then Thursday, January 21st from 10 am until service time in the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mr. Weathers was born on October 17, 1938 in Leesville; he was the son of Asa Jack and Eva Myrtle Craft Weathers. He passed away on Monday, January 18th at his home.
Asa was a lifelong resident of Leesville. Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, Grandfather, Paw Paw and Brother. He served in the Air Force. He was the head of Maintenance for the Vernon Parish Police Jury. A Master Mason and also a Shriner. He volunteered as an Auxiliary Sheriff Deputy, and was a “Jack of All Trades” from a Roofer, Painter, & Private Investigator. He helped build churches in Foreign countries such as Belize. He loved a good conversation, his family and hunting and never met a stranger he did not like. But most important he was a Christian and loved his Lord Jesus Christ.
Asa was preceded in death by his parents, and sister at heart, Melba Mae Craft LaMountain
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Weathers of New Llano; Six Children Asa Eugene (wife, Angela) Weathers of Houston, TX, Cora Dianne “Suzan” (husband, Chris) Weathers Mitchell of Pickering, LA, Artie Ray (wife, Julie Ann) Weathers of Houston, TX, Eva Mae (husband, Danny) Weathers Clanton of New Llano, LA, Melba Rita Marie Weathers Jackson of New Llano, LA and Kathy Renee (husband, Troy) Weathers Key of Ocean Springs, MS; 21 Grandchildren, Charles Edwin Weathers, Darryl Mullens, Nathan King, Gary Lee “Texas Tatar” Mitchell, Ann Corie’ ”Mia Bella” Mitchell, Christopher Allen “B”, Mitchell, Jr, Artie Ray “Skipper” Weathers, II, Leanne Marie Parker, Eric Parker, Justin Massey, Cory Lyons, Danielle Renee Clanton, Edwina Marie Clanton, Hope Michelle Clanton, Jeremy Ambrose, Asa Jackson “Lil AJ” McArthur Weathers, Savannah “Katie” Griego, Samantha Suzan Sherrill, Patricia Christine Davis, Troy Lynn Key and Scott Aaron Key and 38 great grandchildren and countless nephews, nieces, cousins ( Rodney, Bobby & Melba Jo Jackson) and countless friends.
