Archie Roy Chevalier's Obituary
Archie Roy Chevalier, 88, of Weimar, Texas, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, at his residence. Archie was born on June 27, 1923, in Glenmora, LA. His parents were Christopher Columbus “Lum” & Betsy Wells Chevalier. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings; 2 sisters, Essie Chevalier Shirley & Jewell Chevalier Simmons as well as three brothers, Earl, Ed and Martin Chevalier.
Archie served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hancock during World War II, for which he was awarded numerous medals. He worked as a heavy equipment operator many years & was a 65 year member of Local Union #450.
Archie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Luchak Chevalier, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He and Dorothy lived in DeRidder, LA many years before moving to Weimar, Texas in 2002. Archie was a man of many talents; he could repair any type of machinery & enjoyed wood working.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011, 1:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will be at Old Campground Cemetery in Melder, LA. His visitation will begin on Monday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.labbymemorial.com.
