Ann Newman's Obituary
Funeral service for Ann Marie Newman, 80, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder with Rev. Stuart Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Cemetery in Elizabeth, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Newman passed from this life on Monday, April 7, 2014, in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home in DeRidder and 9:00 AM on Wednesday until the time of the service. Ann was born on October 22, 1933, to George and Margaret McDonald Smith at Worcester, MA. She lived most of her life in Elizabeth, LA where she raised her family. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked as a waitress, a girls’ softball coach, city councilwomen, a “Pink-Lady” at Beauregard Memorial Hospital and a member of the VFW Post 3619 in DeRidder. But most of all she was a loving wife and a proud mother and “Nanny” to many. She is survived by 3 daughters, Cheryl Rabalais (Greg) of Crossett, AR, Cindy Williams (Ned) of Elizabeth, LA and Lisa DeHoven (Alex) of DeRidder, LA; 2 sisters, Esther Krasnecky and Christine Tytula, both of North Brookfield, MA; daughter-in-law, Barbara Newman of Longville; special friend and adopted daughter, Pam Jordan of DeRidder and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Newman, Sr.; 4 sons, Bobby Newman, Jr., Michael Newman, Jimmy Newman and infant son, David Newman.
