Alpha "Betty" Welch Kern's Obituary
Funeral services for Alpha “Betty” Welch Kern, 95, of DeRidder, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Deridder with Rev. Tim Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Branch Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday, September 28th, at the funeral home then Tuesday, September 29th, from 9:00 am until service time in the chapel.
Betty, the daughter of William Franklin and Alice Smith Welch was born February 14, 1920, in Pitkin, Louisiana. She passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Mrs. Kern was a native of Pitkin; she lived most of her life in the Alexandria, Louisiana area. She worked as a Nurses Aid at Cabrini Hospital for many years. She lived in the DeRidder and Sugartown area for last twenty-four years. She loved her family, quilting and to cook and feed others. Mrs. Betty was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin and Alice Smith Welch; husband, Robert Kern and sons, Jerry LeBlue and Albert LeBlue.
She is survived by one brother, Billy Ray Welch of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Michael LeBlue of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry LeBlue of Las Vegas, NV, Terry LeBlue of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Linda Ortagus of DeRidder, LA, eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
