It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Aline Cryer. She was born February 6, 1931, in Westlake, Louisiana, to Fate and Katie McLaren. She passed away at her home in Pickering, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones on March 4, 2023. Aline was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish.
The dash, although short in length, represents the 92 years of Aline Cryer’s life. She was a dear mother, Ms. T, Tinesy, Maw T, Gramsy, and Grams to so many. Grams led a full life taking care of her family, friends, and anyone who needed her. Her most favorite times in her life were when her house was filled with family and friends, sharing memories of loved ones and getting hugs and kisses from all the little ones. As she grew older and more easily influenced, she saw and did an unheard amount of things in her life. From riding mechanical bulls, side by side, being lifted in a two-man portable man lift, slipping down water slides, to rolling in the ocean waves. To say she was adventurous would be an understatement. She was always willing to try anything new. Grams knew and loved so many people in her surrounding area, and everyone enjoyed her company on any occasion. She was always in high spirits and brought on laughter with her hoopla and witty ways with words. She spent most days in her later years front porch sitting listening to good country music, sipping a little Canadian Hunter, tending her flower beds, cooking fresh biscuits, and making sure the tea was sweet.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fate Sr. and Katie McLaren; sisters Maxine White, Elaine McLaren; brothers Fate McLaren Jr., Herman McLaren; husbands Deward Sheppard, Allen Jerome Brown, Luther Cryer; children Johnny Fate (Buck) Sheppard, Rita Sheppard Roberts; daughter-in-law Angela Brown; grandchildren Baby Sheppard Calloway, Steven Wayne Sheppard, Jason Edward Hughes, Francis Edward Hughes, Jr., Jessie Jerome Weeks.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Joyce Ray, (Billy Underwood), Jeannie Brown (Rhonda Napier), Linda Brown; daughter-in-law Cheryl Sheppard; sons James Brown (Susan), Albert Brown; 12 grandkids; 24 great grandkids; 17 great, great grandkids and 2 Little Blessings on the way.
