Alice M. King's Obituary
Funeral services for Alice M. King, 85, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Joseph Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Memorial Cemetery in Leesville, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitations will be held Friday, October 7, 2011, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Alice, the daughter of Howard and Elmira Williams Washington was born December 11, 1925, in Jackson, Louisiana. She passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. Mrs. King was a native of Jackson, LA. She was a homemaker until moving to Leesville as a military family. After moving to Leesville she worked various jobs throughout the area. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as an usher and sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Osten J. King; first husband, Earl L. Matthews, Sr.; son, Joseph L. Matthews; parents; eight sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her children; Luella Gordon of Leesville, LA, Earline Chung (Victor) of Leesville, LA, Earl Matthews, Jr., (Linda) of South Holland, IL, Carolyn Wallace of Leesville, Bernice Shannon of Virginia Beach, VA and Bernard L. Matthews (Renata J.) of San Antonio, TX; 15 grandchildren;10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
