Al Dunn was a good man. My Father was his roommate at LA Tech and the two remained life long friends. Our family spent many good days with AL & Jerri and David. Having Albert in your life made it better. I remember the time when I pressed the button in the glove compartment of his new car. He didn't get mad even if we were going down the hwy with the trunk open. I remember he was very good at playing Hearts. I'll never forget you taking me to my first LSU game and I'll never forget you.

What a character ! The Everready bunnys got nothing on Al. He always went at warp speed . I have a four page obit I wrote for Al ..... but no one called to let me know of his passing > I would have been there ! I will send it to Leesville paper . Joe T Smith Baton Rouge

Al was the embodiment of "public servant". Even though I only started with DOTD in bridge maintenance in the early 2000's his dedicated involvement in the public service arenas connected us. I learned through our many discussions what it truly meant to serve the general public. His generosity and thoughtfulness was such as rarely seen anymore. I have been blessed professionally and personally from the knowledge he so freely bestowed me. Rest in peace dear friend. I will always cherish his memory.

I wish on would have known when his funeral was so I could have attended. I worked in Crowley as an engineer aide late 70s. Eventually, Al hired me as an engineer-in-training during the 80s. After he retired, he would stop at my office to leave news articles with his red marker comments. Al was a dedicated public servant. He always was concerned with serving the state. I was truly blessed to be able to work for such a wonderful person. I will miss him.

It was an honor and pleasure to have known Al Dunn during my career at DOTD. I do not know what he saw in me as a young engineer, but his mentoring meant the world to me and contributed greatly to my career. I will miss the long letters and Christmas cards he sent to me and my wife. But most of all I will miss his friendship. Rest in Peace, Al.

Gloria AndersonJimmie & I just heard our dear friend Albert was no longer part of our lives. For more than 79 years I watched him bounce through life. He did not just walk like us ordinary folk.We will miss his letters, photos and talking to him often.I am sad for all of us but glad he is with Jerri, David and so many friends and family.I am grateful to all who were close in distance so you shared his life. It was a comfort to me to know he had so many people who loved and took care of him. I know he was so independent and did not accept much assistance.We miss being physically able to come to Leesville to visit.Gloria Harville AndersonWhen Albert received his Leesville High School diploma after he got out of the Service (1946?), he decided to join the class of 1944. Said it was about the year he would have graduated. LHS Homecoming was one of his passions. The 1944 class has reaped many benefits of his decision. He maintained a current list of us which he sent out each year. He was the driving force for our reunions. Our 25th in 1969 was part of the first of the multi-class reunions as they continue today.Jimmie Anderson

I have known Albert literally my whole life... he, Jerri, and my mom (Helen Kelly) went to high school together (mom & Jerri were best friends). Although I now live far from Leesville, I did make an effort to see him anytime I came through town... and tried to keep in touch on the phone periodically as well, especially after David's death. I just happened to be in town Saturday when I heard the news of his passing and was able to go to the funeral home to say goodbye. Albert, you lived a long, good life. I know Jerry & David happily greeted you. I will miss you.
